It looked as though UCF might find a way to pull another close game out on the road, but the Knights did not have an answer down the stretch and fell, 75-71, at the Cam Henderson Center.
UCF opened the game shooting just 3 of 18 from the field and though they began to shake out of that funk later in the game, they did not have enough to overcome Marshall senior Nigel Spikes, who had 11 points and nine blocks.
The Knights were led by senior Keith Clanton, who snapped out of an offensive funk to put up a game-high 24 points, and Calvin Newell, who added 19 points. Junior Isaiah Sykes had 10 points on 4 of 15 shooting.
The loss snaps a four-game win streak for UCF, which drops to 15-6 on the season and 5-2 in Conference USA.
UCF will play next in a crucial C-USA showdown against Southern Miss on Feb. 6 at home at 7 p.m. Fans who attend the Knights' football signing day event at Bright House Networks Stadium that night from 5:45-6:45 p.m. will receive two complimentary tickets to the UCF-Southern Miss basketball game.
