FRANKFORT — Andrew Potter, Will Jeakle and Andrew Plude each scored 17 points Friday in leading Charlevoix to a 59-58 overtime win over Frankfort in a Lake Michigan Conference-Northwest Conference Challenge boys’ basketball game.

“We played a solid game tonight against a good team,” Charlevoix coach Adam Wood said.

Sawyer Russell’s putback with under 25 seconds remaining gave the Rayders, who trailed 47-42 after three quarters, the victory.

Brandon Miller scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Panthers.

Frankfort won the JV game, 35-34. Zach Hankins scored 19 points for Charlevoix.



Suttons Bay 44, East Jordan 39

SUTTONS BAY — Greg Banks scored 16 points as Suttons Bay downed the Red Devils in a Lake Michigan-Northwest Challenge game

Isiah Sladick had 15 points and 12 rebounds to lead East Jordan, 1-1, which trailed 26-12 at halftime, but clawed back to within three points with under a minute remaining in regulation.

“Tonight’s game was a tale of two halves,” East Jordan coach Darrin Weber said.  “We did not shoot well in the first, but we were able to pull it together in the second.

“The kids played hard in the second half, and did not give up. A few less turnovers, and the story would be different.”



Boyne City 74, Leland 40

LELAND — Senior guard Keegan LeBlance and freshman Corey Redman scored 16 points apiece as Boyne City improved to 2-0 with a win over Leland Friday in a Lake Michigan-Northwest Challenge game.

Jay Redman and Ryan Carson added 10 points apiece for the Ramblers, who led at the quarter breaks, 22-9, 36-24 and 55-30.

“Ryan (Carson) had a nice dunk in the second quarter to really get us going,” Boyne City coach Nick Redman said. “Then in the third, Corey (Redman) had an 11-point spurt that really sparked us.”

Coach Redman also lauded the play of LeBlance, as well as the defensive efforts of Tevin Larmond, T.J. Douglas and Garrett Moeke.

“I thought Keegan played a great game at the point,” Redman said. “He was getting people involved. It was and outstanding team effort once again. Leland is an athletic team and I’m happy with our effort after playing last night.”

For Leland, 0-1, Ian Duvall had eight points.

Boyne City won the JV game, 53-47, as Bradley Fouchia had 17 points, Maceo Vroman, 13; and Dalton Gardner, 11.
