1. Liberals Nip at Obama as He Battles Republicans

You can already hear the rumbling in the distance -- a train of noisy liberal Democrats barreling straight for the White House. They should arrive just in time for President Barack Obama’s second inauguration.

  3. 'Django Unchained' was more than a role for Kerry Washington

On screen and off, Kerry Washington is a strong woman with strong convictions. Not only does she play the tough political crisis manager Olivia Pope on ABC's highly rated show "Scandal," she also commanded the national stage on the final night of the 2012 Democratic National Convention. So it's a bit incongruous to see Washington taking on a role like Broomhilda von Shaft — a plantation slave desperately in need of being rescued by her man — in "Django Unchained."

  5. Memories of 2012: Long voting lines, too many gun tragedies

A simmering rage was building, with South Florida rallies featuring celebrities wearing hoodies and high school kids holding up bags of Skittles. This was a month after Miami-Dade high school student Trayvon Martin was killed in Central Florida by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman, before Zimmerman had been charged with second-degree murder by a special prosecutor. The case sparked a huge national debate over race, profiling, vigilantism, guns and Florida's Stand Your Ground Law.

  7. Liberal obsession with race is growing old

When will liberals stop living in the past? Specifically, when will they accept that they aren't all that stands between a wonderful, tolerant America and Jim Crow?

  9. Obama nominates John Kerry to be next secretary of State

WASHINGTON – President Obama nominated John F. Kerry, the five-term senator from Massachusetts, to replace Hillary Rodham Clinton as secretary of State on Friday, choosing a longtime political ally who shares much of his foreign policy worldview and is likely to sail through confirmation hearings.

  11. Charlie's future is all about campaign cash

  13. Who's on Democrats' 'short list'?

Soon after the 1988 presidential election, pollsters asked Democrats whom they favored to be their party's nominee in 1992. The strongest candidates were Sen. Edward M. Kennedy of Massachusetts and Gov. Mario M. Cuomo of New York. The governor of...

  17. All Saints rolls out the welcome mat

When All Saints Church, known for its outreach to faith groups beyond its own Episcopal ministry, announced that it would host the annual convention of the Muslim Public Affairs Council this weekend, it got a rash of hate mail. Officials at the Pasadena church say the response was triggered by an online article that described the church as naive for hosting the group. The article charged, among other things, that the council's officers had past connections to the Muslim Brotherhood, and that the group has refused to label Hamas and Hezbollah as terrorist organizations.

  19. Top TV of 2012: Poehler's Leslie Knope shines on 'Parks and Rec'

Amy Poehler has been a comedian of note for some time now — it's already 11 years since she joined the cast of "Saturday Night Live" (and three and change since she left it), and before that there was "The Upright Citizens Brigade" on Comedy Central and appearances as Andy Richter's little sister, in braces and pigtails, on "Late Night With Conan O'Brien."

  21. The Stone truth: Left-wingers are boring

When, at long last, will people understand that the left is boring? The question came to mind as I was dipping in and out of Oliver Stone's miasmic 700-plus-page tome. I'll never read the whole thing, and not because it's a left-wing screed full of...

  23. Newark Mayor Cory Booker could enliven New Jersey governor's race

NEW YORK -- The 2012 presidential election is over, Ohio has certified its vote, even Rep. Allen West has conceded. So where’s a political junkie to turn his or her attention throughout the long, cold winter?
