Coliseum Olympic torch to be lighted to honor JFK anniversary

Officials from USC and Los Angeles will light the Olympic torch at the Coliseum for 24 hours beginning at 12:01 a.m. Friday to honor former President John F. Kennedy on the 50th anniversary of his death. Kennedy gave the Democratic National Convention nomination speech in the Coliseum in July of 1960. “Earlier in the week, I got a call from Congresswoman Janice Hahn from our nation’s capitol suggesting that the torch be lit.
