In answer to the obvious question, yes, the newly re-edited version of the 1963 film “Tom Jones” (at selected theaters) does seem dated--not so much in its odd, adventurous stylistic quirks, many of which hold up better than you might expect, as in its loose, mocking, anti-conservative moral tone, so contrary to our own cautionary movie age.
