    Gloria R. (Begley) Winters, 82, Pilltown, Jenner Township, died June 27, 2012, at The Patriot, Somerset. Born Oct. 8, 1929, in Pilltown, daughter of Robert C. and Verda M. (Yoder) Begley. Preceded in death by parents; husband of 52 years, John A. "Jack," on March 27, 2003; infant granddaughter, Janie Louise Brown; and sisters, Roberta "Bucky" Gowarty and Deborah Halgas. Survived by daughters, Sherry Shaffer, and special friend Dave Lohr, Jenner Township; and Ginny, married to Glenn Brown, Edie; grandson, Robert Shaffer, married to Jodi Charlton, Stoystown; special great-grandchildren: Megan, married to Terry Paxton; Makaylee; and Zachary; and great-great-grandchildren: Coltyn and Keegan. Sister of Wanda Sterner, Norwalk, Calif.; Doris "Dot," married to Kenneth Griffith, Erie; Milly "Fritz," married to Eugene Spiker, Mount Joy; Catherine "Kay," married to Marlin Knisely, Pilltown; James, married to Chris Kallman, Clovis, Calif.; and David, married to Betty Brunelle, Jenner Township. Also survived by brother-in-law, Robert Winters, married to Betty Williams, Rector; and numerous nieces and nephews. A 1948 graduate of the former JBJ Joint High School. Member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. Retired cafeteria employee of the North Star schools, with many years of service. She was a volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul Share &amp; Care, Davidsville. Also a member of Red Hat Society and Knotty Ladies of Laurel Trinity Lutheran Church. Gloria enjoyed traveling with her family. Viewing will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home &amp; Cremation Services, 409 Main St., Boswell. Service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hopewell Church, Pastor Wilma G.   23. Mary Jane Augustine, 79, Central City

    Mary Jane Augustine, 79, Central City, died June 9, 2012. Born Aug. 3, 1932, daughter of Dominic and Concetta Mary (Bruno) Augustine. Preceded in death by parents; twin brothers, James and Stephen; nephew, John Kadillac Jr. Survived by sister, Frances Kadillac, Johnstown; and niece, Deanna Berkebile, Johnstown. Mary Jane graduated in 1950 from Shade High School and remained active in their reunion program until her death. She graduated from Cambria Rowe Business College and Pennsylvania Highlands Community College, Johnstown. She worked for almost 40 years in administration for Bestform Foundations in Windber and the W.T. Grant Co. in Windber. Mary Jane attended daily Mass at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, was active in her church ministries, monthly rosary and Eucharistic Devotion, activities center ministries, Saint Vincent de Paul Society Mission and Youth Programs, rectory and church volunteer (6 days a week), as well as a member of the Society of Angels and their funeral lunch program. For many years Mary Jane processed mailings and administration work for Humanitarian Interfaith Ministries or HIM Ministries, which cares for orphaned and abandoned children of the streets in 10 countries in Latin America. She had a great love for all children, especially for those who suffered in poverty. For years, Mary Jane was a caregiver and closest friend to the now deceased Viola Maurizio, mother of Fr. Joe Maurizio. Special thanks to all Mary Jane's friends at the church who helped her when she was most in need. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. (rosary at 4 p.m.) and from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church, 738 Sunshine Ave., Central City. Friends will also be received at the church from 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, when funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. by Father Joseph Maurizio, pastor. Interment next to Mary Jane's beloved family in the Holy Ground of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Central City, (founded by Father Igneous Pilz almost 100 years ago). Arrangements made by the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber. Donations may be made in Mary Jane's name, in grateful appreciation, to Windber Hospice for their 10 months of dedicated love and care to Mary Jane in her suffering with breast cancer, or donations may be made to her beloved HIM Ministries to care for orphaned and abandoned children of the streets in Latin America and sent to the Our Lady Queen of Angels Church.
