The announcement was made by Gary N. Hoipkemier, SCI Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.
MacDowell will start in his new position March 28 and will be relocating his family in the near future to the Mishawaka area.
The new Information Technology Vice President will define and implement a consolidated IT strategy and vision for SCI properties.
MacDowell has over 25 years experience in Information Technology and all facets of application development. He began his career supporting the Joint Chiefs of Staff at the Pentagon and moved into the commercial industry at Alex Brown Investment Banking, where he was promoted to Vice President of Information Resource Management and a senior member of the Architecture committee with Bankers Trust.
As the Senior Director of Systems Architecture for Adelphia Cable, Andy was responsible for the overall system architecture and the development of in-house integrated billing system and the Operation Support Systems (OSS).
Andy was the co-founder and architect for Redsiren Technologies, Inc. RedSiren was instrumental in defining managed security services in Internet space. Andy’s vision and direction led Redsiren to acquire Secure 360 from Carnegie Mellon University and Atomic Tangerine, a global Internet security company from Stanford University; these acquisitions made Redsiren the largest privately held managed Internet Security Company.
In the past several years, Andy has held senior IT positions at Insight Communications and AT&T where he has been instrumental in changing the face of IT and Network Operations.
Andy and his wife, Pam, have two children, Kate and Connor.
