Maitland: Thurston House B&B turns on the charm
Rocking on the wide veranda, looking out over eight wooded acres and tranquil Lake Eulalia, you'd never guess you're just minutes from some of Central Florida's finest restaurants, antiques and fashion shops. Among the neighborhood's attractions are the Maitland Art Center, the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey and historic Eatonville, the oldest black township in the United States and home of the Zora Neale Hurston Festival.
The three second-floor rooms of the Thurston House feature a queen-sized bed, private bath, desk, phone with modem hookup, complimentary wireless access, TV/VCR/DVD with cable, and CD player.
"I have people from all over the world stay with us -- and even some from Maitland," says innkeeper Carole Ballard.
