Imagination is in books, school activities and free play for children every day. Now you can bring the imaginary to life by introducing your child to the theater through special children's matinees and performances. Most theaters offer family series and lap ticket pricing to make going to the theater easy.

South Florida is also home to several children's theaters and professional theater companies that create theater magic for young children. Before bringing little ones to shows, it's important to go through the rules of proper theater etiquette with them as part of the experience.

HERE ARE THE BASICS:
• When the lights in the theater begin to dim, that's the signal that the performance is about to begin. Stop talking and turn your attention to the stage.
•Remain in your seat throughout the entire performance, if possible.
• During the performance, listen and watch closely. Talking during the performance can disturb others around you, though many children's performances encourage audience participation.
• If you think something is funny, it's OK to laugh. If you like something a lot, applaud.
