These detectives in Polk County must really be good.
Afterall, they were able to lure suspects from 18 Florida cities, some as far away as South Florida, to Polk County for sex.
After negotiating with detectives online, or by phone, the suspects traveled to an undisclosed Polk County location where they offered detectives sex acts ranging from oral sex to intercourse in exchange for cash, charging anywhere from $50.00 to $700.00. The majority of the ads were found on backpage.com, according to a news release from Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd.
In the end, the detectives nabbed 36 females and 24 males during Operation Curtain Call.
"Some arrived alone. Some car-pooled; and some arrived in taxis, bringing along their children, condoms, and STDs," said Sheriff Grady Judd.
Among those caught:
Kenneth Melendez, who had placed an ad suggesting he was "every single woman's best friend, and every married woman's best kept secret." Melendez was identified by Gang Unit Detectives as a member of the Sex, Money, Murder Bloods criminal gang from Osceola County
*Juvenile and her "pimp" Jonathan Padilla. The 15-year-old teen arrived with her two-month old baby. The "pimp" remained in the vehicle.
Michael Johnson, a school bus driver for the Pasco County School District, told detectives he specialized in body rubs and brought with him a variety of lotions and a small docking station to play music.
Hector Febus Ojeda arrived via a website that specialized in Transsexual Escorts. Ojeda and the undercover detective negotiated sexual intercourse for $300.00. Upon arrival Ojeda revealed his breast implants to the undercover detective.
Good work, Sheriff Grady Judd.
By the way, FloriDUH Headquarters thinks the name Grady Judd has to be the best sheriff's name in the state.
