1. For What it's Worth: Do You Feel a Draft?

Isn’t it just the luck of the Chiefs that they own the top pick in a draft void of that one sure-fire superstar? A year after three potential all-pros were drafted early at quarterback, there may be only one taken in all the first round tomorrow and Geno Smith probably won’t start in his rookie season, let alone go to Hawaii. So, barring something crazy in a trade Kansas City will, most likely, draft an offensive tackle. Hey, you don’t always have to be sexy to be productive.

3. Sox hopes rest on Sale's shoulders

Chris Sale tried to be like a sponge whenever Mark Buehrle was around, soaking up pitching knowledge. It was the same way Buehrle had learned from David Wells, sitting next to him in the White Sox dugout during games in his first full season.

5. It's fight to finish (last)

It's too early to say who will be the first player taken in the 2013 draft — could be University of Florida pitcher Karsten Whitson or another advanced college prospect or a high school stud like Austin Meadows, an outfielder from Georgia, or Clinton Hollon, a hard-throwing pitcher from Kentucky. Who knows?

7. Little fish making big splash for White Sox

Who are the piranhas now?
Who are the piranhas now? Ozzie Guillen used to say the Twins were like those flesh-eating fish, chewing up opponents. But now it's the White Sox, their front office and pro scouts especially, who are feeding off of others. After Monday's 5-4 win over...

9. Your Morning Phil: 17-21, Almora, Astros

Talking baseball while hoping the Bulls can avoid leaking talent in the off-season.
Talking baseball while hoping the Bulls can avoid leaking talent in the off-season. The White Sox have a new rallying cry, and it’s silly. Hey, we’re 17-21, look at us now! That was the talk coming out of the clubhouse and the broadcast...

11. Improving home record could push Sox over top in AL Central

Not one team in the American League Central has a winning record at home this season.
Not one team in the American League Central has a winning record at home this season. If the first-place White Sox can take care of business at U.S. Cellular Field, the division title could be attainable. The Sox are 16-19 at the Cell and 19-13 on the...

13. White Sox GM Ken Williams making all right moves

They don't give away Comeback Executive of the Year awards. But as the first-place White Sox start a four-game series Thursday at Yankee Stadium against the best team in baseball, consider that Adam Dunn and Jake Peavy aren't the only professionals on...

15. Ventura's challenge: Keep Sox hungry

As Robin Ventura found out during his first trip to jolly old England, any torture the White Sox felt at The Cell in September paled in comparison with what poor blokes used to endure inside the Tower of London.

17. Sox taking big gamble with Flowers

Like the White Sox, the Rangers don't know who is going to catch for them beyond next year. But having recently gone through a transition featuring Gerald Laird, Jarrod Saltalamacchia, Matt Treanor and Taylor Teagarden, they aren't turning over the position to someone who hasn't proved himself as a regular on a winning team.

19. Trading Marmol could fill a couple of Cubs holes

Reports say the Tigers are looking to trade for a closer. Hang loose, Carlos Marmol.
Reports say the Tigers are looking to trade for a closer. Hang loose, Carlos Marmol. I mean, didn’t the Cubs sign Kyuji Fujikawa precisely because they intended-slash-hoped-slash-tried to trade Marmol? In fact, the Cubs cut a deal with the...

21. White Sox need more starts like Quintana's

Jose Quintana does not tiptoe into a room. He opens the door and waltzes right in, sometimes to stick around, sometimes to be promptly escorted out.

23. Peavy helping Sox make waves

On the drive to Wrigley Field early Sunday morning, Adam Dunn glanced at Lake Michigan and noticed something he immediately wanted to share with his carpool buddy, Jake Peavy.
