Chavez, A's roll to 5-2 win over Dodgers

OAKLAND, Calif. Jesse Chavez threw eight dominant innings, allowing the Los Angeles Dodgers only two hits as he pitched the A's to a sweep of a two-game series against National League West-leading Dodgers with a 5-2 win Wednesday. The first hit Chavez allowed was Jimmy Rollins' two-run homer in the third inning that had Oakland in a 2-1 hole. The A's gave Chavez the lead on an RBI double from Billy Burns and a subsequent run-scoring double-play grounder from Danny Valencia in the sixth. Chavez threw a 1-2-3 seventh inning, then struck out Rollins after a two-out double by Kike Hernandez in the eighth to preserve the lead. That left him with 116 pitches thrown, a career...
