Rangers' Rougned Odor to have hearing Tuesday to appeal eight-game suspension

Second baseman Rougned Odor of the Texas Rangers is having a hearing Tuesday to appeal an eight-game suspension for punching Jose Bautista of the Toronto Blue Jays, it was announced Sunday.

The appeal will be heard by John McHale, MLB executive vice president. If it is upheld, Odor would have to begin serving the suspension immediately.

The league disciplined 14 players and staff for their actions in a fight May 15 at Arlington, Texas. Odor punched Bautista in the jaw in the top of the eighth inning after Bautista made a hard takeout slide at second base on Odor, which started a bench-clearing brawl.
