6. Mark Gonzales' White Sox mailbag

I'm curious why Brandon Short and Christian Marrero didn't get called up in September. I knew of Addison Reed because I was watching his stats early on. I'm baffled by some decisions, particularly regarding these two players. Even Kevan Smith should have gotten a look at the majors, considering his stats and his age coming out of college. He only hit .478 or thereabouts on the way to the Voyagers' title. Trayce Thompson is still a year or two away; his strike zone needs to be studied. I might as well add Hector Santiago, Greg Infante and Charlie Leesman -- instead of the rotations of Kinney, Lindsay, and Bruney. -- Demosthenes Papaeliou

  8. Orioles lack quality trade chips as deadline nears

  14. The Sox are done, so Williams had better get started

It doesn’t do any good to fire Ozzie Guillen. It doesn’t do any good because he’s not to blame. The White Sox players are. Blame them. Trade them. This Sox season is o-vuh. Sox management shoved “All In,’’...

  17. Losing to the Pirates shows how much better the Cubs pitching needs to be

I didn’t expect the Cubs to win 90 games this season, but I sure didn’t expect them to blow a series to the pathetic Pirates, a team they should’ve swept when you think about it because you have to sweep bad teams if you’re going to threaten to be any good.
