The surprise wasn’t so much that Clippers guard Chris Paul was named to the NBA’s all-defensive first team on Monday. After all, Paul did lead the NBA in steals (2.48 per game) for the fourth consecutive year and the sixth time in the last seven seasons. He made the first-team all-defensive unit for the third consecutive year. The surprise perhaps was that Clippers center DeAndre Jordan didn’t make the first or second teams. Jordan, who received some votes, was third in the NBA in blocked shots (2.4), first in rebounds (13.6) and finished third in the defensive player of the year voting.
