Stephen Curry made an NBA-record 13 three-point shots on the way to 46 points Monday night, grabbing back the spotlight from new teammate Kevin Durant in the Golden State Warriors’ 116-106 victory over the winless New Orleans Pelicans at Oakland.
The two-time reigning most valuable player hit 13 of 17 from beyond the arc, the seventh time in his career that he has made as many as 10, and 16 of 26 shots overall. He raised his right arm and pounded his chest when he reached the record with 2:23 to play.
It was his first 40-point performance this season after he led the NBA with 13 last season.
