The Gators have won two national championships each in football and basketball and took both during the 2006-07 academic year, something no school has ever done. The football program also won the 1996 national title, and the basketball team won it all in 2006.

2006-07 was a typical year for UF, which had 11 teams finish in the nation's Top 10 and six win SEC championships. The Gators also operate under a $79 million budget, and its booster organization raised better than $37 million to the university to support academic programs.
