1. Mike Preston: The Ravens are officially John Harbaugh's team now

There was always a belief that the Ravens would never be coach John Harbaugh's team until Ray Lewis left or retired. Well, it's Harbaugh's team now.
The Baltimore Sun
There was always a belief that the Ravens would never be coach John Harbaugh's team until Ray Lewis left or retired. Well, it's Harbaugh's team now. With Lewis gone after the Ravens won the Super Bowl, it was the perfect time for Harbaugh to clean house...

3. Texans send owner's jet to pick up Ed Reed

The Baltimore Sun
If there was any lingering doubt that Ed Reed was intent about testing the free agent market and leaving the only NFL organization he’s ever known, it should have been erased Thursday afternoon when the long-time Ravens safety stepped off a plane...

5. Ravens defense looking like a younger, quieter, less expensive group

The Ravens' surprising decision Wednesday to cut Bernard Pollard, the hard-hitting and tough-talking safety who led the Super Bowl champions in tackles last season, opens up just $1 million of salary-cap room. So at least on the surface, the move appears to go beyond simple finances.

7. Memo to Joe: Spread the wealth

This business about the Ravens' salary cap is way beyond my comprehension ("Raven's tight salary cap could squeeze out playoff star Anquan Boldin if he doesn't accept less pay," March 10). But I know one thing: The more money one player receives, the less there is for the others.

9. Wallace brings what Dolphins need

They need speed? They got the Usain Bolt of NFL receivers. They need production? They signed a guy with eight touchdowns last year – nearly triple the three touchdowns the Dolphins receivers had combined. They needed a prime target for...

11. Ravens news, notes and opinions on Ayanbadejo, Thompson, Te'o and more

I mentioned this on my Twitter account, but I wanted to go into a little more detail here. Eight of the nine oldest Ravens – and the six oldest overall - from the team that won the Super Bowl two months ago are no longer under contract with the team. That group includes Ray Lewis (37, retired), Bobbie Williams (36, released), Matt Birk (36, retired), Brendon Ayanbadejo (36, will be released), Ed Reed (34, signed with Houston), Ma’ake Kemoeatu (34, free agent), Bryant McKinnie (33, free agent) and Anquan Boldin (32, traded to San Francisco). The only exception is cornerback Chris Johnson, the 33-year-old who re-signed with the Ravens last month. Johnson and fullback Vonta Leach (31) are currently the two oldest players on the team and the only players on the roster over the age of 30.

13. Dannell Ellerbe gets $35 million contract from Dolphins, leaving Ravens, source says

The Baltimore Sun
The free agency exodus from the Ravens' roster wasn't expected to necessarily include starting inside linebacker Dannell Ellerbe. With middle linebacker Ray Lewis retired and Jameel McClain still not cleared to play football yet following a December...

15. Losing Ellerbe and Kruger may be good for Ed Reed and McKinnie

It’s not all bad news for the Ravens on the first day of free agency. Despite trading receiver Anquan Boldin on Monday and then losing linebackers Paul Kruger and Dannell Ellerbe on Tuesday, the Ravens still might have a shot at retaining safety Ed Reed and offensive tackle Bryant McKinnie.

17. Free agent Kruger says he has 'no reason to want to go to anywhere else'

A little more than two weeks before he hits the open market and is allowed to sign with another team, outside linebacker Paul Kruger's mindset remains the same as it was in the hours that followed the Ravens' 34-31 victory over the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII.

Now that the Ravens have traded wide receiver Anquan Boldin to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick, general manager Ozzie Newsome has acknowledged how difficult it was to part ways with the three-time Pro Bowl selection.
