There was a much lighter turnout at today's Ravens voluntary OTA (organized team activity) than a week ago. By my count, 19 of 90 players on the roster are absent today.

5. New defensive coordinator Dean Pees says Ravens can overcome injury to Terrell Suggs

Dean Pees has been through this before.
Dean Pees has been through this before. He was the linebackers coach for the New England Patriots when he learned that Tedy Bruschi, a Pro Bowl middle linebacker and one of the team's emotional leaders, had a stroke, putting both his 2005 season and...

7. Lardarius Webb's third annual Ravens charity softball game this weekend

If you are one of the local football fans who has been chomping at the bit to see the Baltimore Ravens in action since the 2011-12 season closed, you might not have to wait another four months to do so - several of the purple-clothed heroes will be at...

9. Ravens wrap up OTAs open to the media with 19 absences

The Ravens just wrapped up their final media-friendly organized team activity workout of the spring, and 19 players were not at today’s practice. Here’s the usual disclaimer that the workout was voluntary, with an added note that some of these players might have been inside the building and not practicing for whatever reason.

11. On OTA attendance in Baltimore and across the NFL

Much has been made around here -- and elsewhere too -- about which players have and haven’t been attending the Ravens’ voluntary organized team activities the past three weeks. The Ravens were missing seven players during their first OTA that was open to media two Wednesdays ago. Attendance dipped the following Wednesday.

15. Rookie cornerback Asa Jackson playing catch-up at Ravens minicamp

Of the eight players the Ravens picked in April’s NFL draft, the leap to the NFL might be the biggest for Asa Jackson. The Cal Poly cornerback was one of three small-school prospects the Ravens selected. Center Gino Gradkowski and safety Christian Thompson were the others, but unlike Jackson, they experienced major college football before transferring. And Jackson also had to miss all three weeks of the Ravens' OTA workouts.

17. Asa Jackson eager to learn from Ray Lewis, Ed Reed

As of Sunday, it still hadn’t quite set in to Ravens rookie cornerback Asa Jackson that he was practicing on an NFL football field. “I’m working toward getting in that mindset every day,” he said of making the transition to the professional ranks. But Jackson, a fifth-round draft pick out of Cal Poly, showed up with the right attitude.
