LOS ANGELES — Manti Te'o raised both arms and looked to the sky as he separated himself from the pack of teammates celebrating Notre Dame's 22-13 victory Saturday night over USC at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. They still were celebrating when...

7. What does FSU QB EJ Manuel have to do to win the Heisman?

Chopping Block - Seminoles Blog - Orlando Sentinel
The question posed above is one CBS Sports Heisman Trophy pundit Chris Huston attempted to answer in this blog from Thursday. It's definitely worth a read. His larger point is one to seriously ponder. Florida State hasn't unveiled a Heisman campaign since...

The pressure mounted. The game was on the line. A struggling Raiders franchise wasn't accustomed to the drama, not after losing 13 consecutive games to the division-rival Chargers. But something was different when the teams met in the fifth game of the...

15. Ravens news, notes and opinions

As we await a week filled with speculation about Ben Roethlisberger’s playing status for Sunday’s AFC North showdown between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens, it’s pretty remarkable that the latest chapter in this rivalry could be played without Roethlisberger, Hines Ward and Ray Lewis on the field. It will be the first time since the final game of the 2007 regular season when none of the three have been in the game. That day, Lewis was sidelined with hand and back injuries while Roethlisberger and Ward were rested for the playoffs. That being said, I think it would be foolish to count out Roethlisberger from this game until Steelers coach Mike Tomlin officially declares him out. I think we’ve all seen this movie before with Roethlisberger to jump to any conclusions.

17. Ravens secondary still an area of concern

Buried in the leftover rubble and next to the carcass of the Oakland Raiders at M&T Bank Stadium is a concern that won't go away.

19. Ravens set franchise record for points in dominant win over Raiders

There was Ray Rice going untouched for a 7-yard touchdown run. Torrey Smith sprinting free behind the Oakland Raiders’ defense and connecting with Joe Flacco for a 47-yard score. And punter/holder Sam Koch encountering very little resistance during his 7-yard touchdown scamper on a fake field goal.

21. Ravens went all Dikembe Mutombo on the Raiders

In Sunday’s 55-20 win over the Oakland Raiders, Ravens defenders channeled their inner Dikembe Mutombo, swatting six of quarterback Carson Palmer’s passes at the line. All that was missing was the finger-wagging.
