11. Ravens training camp highlights: Thursday practice

FIRST TOUCHDOWN The first touchdown of training camp wasn’t registered by the offense, but the defense. 13. Ravens' news, notes and opinions after Week One of training camp

Ravens left tackle Bryant McKinnie is in town and will be at the Under Armour Performance Center today, but it’s still too early to assume that he will regain his starting left tackle spot. That is because the Ravens have to find out whether he’s healthy enough and in good enough condition to get out on the field. Remember, that was the issue with McKinnie all along before the big left tackle’s absence prompted all sorts of theories about why he didn’t report for training camp. And now, not only will he have to pass the conditioning test and show team officials that he’s in good enough shape, he’s also going to have to prove his back is healthy. McKinnie told reporters the past few days that he hurt his back in an accident at home, and that’s why he didn’t show up for the first full-team workout last week.

  19. Ravens training camp highlights: Webb comes up with a big hit

WORKING OVERTIME:To end Wednesday’s practice, head coach John Harbaugh simulated an overtime game by running through two simulations with the NFL's new overtime rules. In the first one, the starting offense stalled and No. 2 quarterback Tyrod Taylormoved his offense into position for rookie kicker Justin Tucker to make a 19-yard field goal. In the second simulation, both offenses traded possessions before Tucker nailed another game-winner, from 44 yards, for the second team. Harbaugh said he wanted his players to be prepared for the new overtime rules.

  23. Ravens highlights: Secondary brings the pressure

SECONDARY SPARKLES: Even without eight-time Pro Bowl free safety Ed Reed and cornerback Jimmy Smith, the secondary blanketed the receivers. During an exercise in which the cornerbacks were asked to cover wide receivers one-on-one with quarterbacks Joe Flacco and Curtis Painter taking snaps from the 12-yard line, Flacco connected on just three touchdowns among at least 10 passes. Painter did not throw a touchdown and was intercepted when a pass went through rookie wide receiver Dorian Graham’s hands and into those of rookie Jordan Maybin.
