NFL notes: New York Giants lose receiver Victor Cruz for the season

New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz is out for the season after suffering a torn patellar tendon in his right knee Sunday night during the team's 27-0 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. Cruz, a fifth-year veteran, underwent what the team said was successful surgery Monday afternoon. The operation was performed by team physician Dr. Russell Warren at the Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan. The 27-year-old Cruz, a Pro Bowl pick in 2012, was hurt in the third quarter as he tried to catch a fourth-down pass in the end zone with the Giants trailing 20-0.
