Their passes might sail high, but three NFL quarterbacks have landed far short of expectations.

  7. The Times' college football rankings: The top 25

Monday night's NFL outrage with the officials reminds me of the time in 2010 that "replacement Rankman" put Boise State at No. 1 and kept the Broncos there until the Friday night after Thanksgiving. This week's standings offer their own controversial finish, with four Big Ten Conference schools bunched in the basement for what should be an exciting playoff two years in advance of college football's new format. The winner gets the Floyd of Rankman trophy, presented by John Deere, at imaginary Grain Silo Stadium. Bump-of-the-week goes to Kansas State, which rockets 10 spots to No. 6 after last week's triumph at Oklahoma. Coach Bill Snyder called from his Little Manhattan project to wonder why Rankman was not this excited about his 1998 team.

I can't remember a better NFL weekend, a more entertaining end to a Monday night game.
I can't remember a better NFL weekend, a more entertaining end to a Monday night game. So what's with an ESPN SportsCenter anchor saying she's depressed, media everywhere going into a conniption fit because our entertainment package goes haywire? I...

  11. NFL losing credibility with each blown call by replacement refs

    Hail Mary. Holy hell.

    The News Tribune

  19. Seattle Seahawks don't have first-round pick in NFL draft, but do have needs

    Seattle Times
Seahawks general manager John Schneider has never seen a draft like this one. He's not alone. The Kansas City Chiefs are looking at four players for the No. 1 pick because there is no obvious choice. Mike Mayock, widely considered the best draft analyst...

  21. Fading Bears need change -- the sooner the better

Of all the noise surrounding the Bears' 21-13 loss to the Packers on Sunday, general manager Phil Emery easily could ignore the pregame chatter that revealed his team as one unable to back up big talk.

Replacement refs or cockroaches? Which would you rather have in your home? Unfortunately, I don't have a direct answer about your feelings but we can get a good idea based on the work of Public Policy Polling, located in Raleigh, N.C. They took a poll...
