He realizes that means he wouldn’t have a Super Bowl ring. And he wouldn’t have the fame that comes with having thrown a touchdown pass in the NFL’s championship game.
But the former receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Redskins also knows there’s a good chance he wouldn’t be suffering memory lapses or having trouble walking down the stairs at age 36 if he had taken another career path.
