1. Colts could land Pro Bowl player at No. 24

The News-Sentinel
Suspense has been knocked down a notch or 24 for the Indianapolis Colts as they take to the NFL Draft. Last year's draft was assembling a stockpile of talent, starting with top pick Andrew Luck. This year, they're adding accessories. That's not to say...

3. Pats miss as often as hit

Boston Herald
As football fans have come to know, drafting is a bit like that famous box of chocolates. As the fictional Forrest Gump was fond of saying, "You never know what you're going to get." Even with all the resources allocated to scouting and analyzing film...

Should the Ravens opt to cut veteran wide receiver Anquan Boldin, which isn't necessarily the Super Bowl champions' intention despite a $6 million base salary and a $7.531 million salary-cap figure, then Boldin insists he'll retire.

11. Ravens news, notes and opinions

The Ravens had 13 players not participating in any part of practice Saturday and another two (tight end Ed Dickson and linebacker Darry Blackstock) who didn’t finish the workout because of injuries. The potentially season-ending Achilles tear to linebacker Terrell Suggs was the biggest blow obviously, but the loss of practice time for first or second-year players like Bernard Pierce (hamstring), Tandon Doss (hamstring), Jah Reid (calf), Courtney Upshaw (shoulder) and Jimmy Smith (back) shouldn’t be overlooked. Upshaw is the only one on the list that was a near certain starter, though Smith is competing with Cary Williams for a starting role. But the rest of the above-mentioned group figure to, at the very least, be key reserves. Ravens coach John Harbaugh does a great job not publicly fixating or fretting about injuries, but I’d have to imagine the coaching staff is getting anxious with how much practice time these guys are missing. The good news is Upshaw says he is real close to a return and Doss said that he expects to practice today.

15. Even after drafting Pierce, the Ravens still have decisions to make at running back

Here is a question that the Ravens will have to answer in the coming weeks: Will they be comfortable going into the season without an experienced backup behind Ray Rice?

Anthony Allen’s first emotion was disappointment.

Three weeks into free agency, the Ravens have retained starting linebacker Jameel McClain, added to their defensive back depth and upgraded their special teams. But one of their glaring offseason needs remains virtually untouched.
