1. Could Vikings' Jared Allen bolt after this season?

Star Tribune (Minneapolis)
MINNEAPOLIS It's a Monday in May and Jared Allen is reciting from the Book of Herm. "You always have to ask, 'Do you love football or do you love what football gives you?'" The adage is borrowed from Herm Edwards, Allen's head coach during his final two...

DAVIE — The ball was firing out Ryan Tannehill's hands as if he were playing a game of hot potato.
DAVIE — The ball was firing out Ryan Tannehill's hands as if he were playing a game of hot potato. The decisions made during the one OTA practice the media watched this week were quick, and the passes were more precise. A dig to Dustin Keller...

11. Steelers' Woodley: 'I'm good to go'

He wore No. 56, but that wasn't LaMarr Woodley out there for the Steelers last season. He knows it, and the rest of the NFL knows it, too. "Let's see if he takes the challenge (and improves)," NFL Network analyst Charles Davis said. "If so, you've...

15. Ravens news, notes and opinions after Wednesday's OTAs

As I expected, there was a lot more made of who didn’t show up at this week’s organized team activities than who did. The absences of Terrell Suggs, Haloti Ngata and Vonta Leach in particular seemed to spur the most questions. Again, the workouts are voluntary and some players choose to stay home and work out on their own. Coach John Harbaugh pointed out that the team didn’t see Ray Lewis much – if at all – in the offseason. Ed Reed wasn’t exactly a fixture at OTAs either. And Joe Flacco mentioned that Anquan Boldin wasn’t traditionally at the facility this time of year either. The comments weren’t made to disparage any of the three players but the point was made. The Ravens knew that those players would be ready to go when needed, which is the same feeling they have with the likes of Suggs, Ngata, Leach and Marshal Yanda, who also was a no-show. The Ravens have 90 players on their roster and all but about six of them were on the field in some capacity. And another veteran, Jacoby Jones, is expected to arrive today after his third-place finish in Dancing with the Stars. That should be far more the story than the handful of players who didn’t show at a workout they technically didn’t have to be at.

19. Charles Woodson brings confidence to Raiders

The Oakland Tribune
ALAMEDA, Calif. Charles Woodson has no intention of being an aging mentor playing out his golden years in silver and black. "I would have just retired if I thought I couldn't go out there and be the best player on the field," Woodson said Wednesday by...

21. No athlete since Jordan symbolized Chicago more than Urlacher

Whenever Brian Urlacher does something to confirm he hates attention as much as he loves football — grunt through a news conference, breeze by adoring fans, retire via Twitter — my mind goes back to 2003 in a corner of the Bears locker room.
