Orenthal James "O. J." Simpson (July 9, 1947 -) is a retired American football player and actor. Simpson was acquitted in 1995 of the murder of his wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. In December 2008 Simpson was convicted on kidnapping and robbery charges from a September 2007 event in which he and a group of men entered a hotel room and took sports memorabilia at gunpoint. Simpson was sentenced to 33 years in prison with the possibility of parole in about nine years.
