Frank Mason III made a 16-foot jumper with 1.3 seconds to play to give No. 7 Kansas a 77-75 victory over No. 1 Duke on Tuesday night in the State Farm Champions Classic at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
The Jayhawks (1-1) beat a top-ranked team for the eighth time, but this one looked a lot easier with eight minutes to play and Kansas leading, 62-50.
But the Blue Devils (2-1) finally got hot and tied it at 75 with 15 seconds left on a three-pointer by Frank Jackson.
Kansas called a timeout with 8.2 seconds left and set up the game-winner.
