Robert Streb proved you don't need all the clubs in your bag to shoot a good round of golf when he made five birdie putts on the back nine Sunday in the Greenbrier Classic to make a four-man playoff.
Streb insists that he didn't mean to break his putter when he tossed it down after playing the ninth hole. The putter landed against the base of his golf bag, Streb said, snapping the head from the shaft.
“It hit the bottom of the bag and the head went flying,” Streb said. “It was not my intent, but that was what happened. And so I said, 'Well, let's see what we can do with a wedge.'”
