    <i>While assembling my notes for a review of the Library of America anthology <b>&quot;American Fantastic Tales: Terror and the Uncanny" </b>(Library of America, two volumes, edited by Peter Straub: "From Poe to the Pulps," 746 pp., $35; "From the 1940s to Now," 714 pp., $35), I noticed a peculiar thing. The quotes that I had quarried seemed to assemble themselves into a sort of ur-story, a template of the unheimlich. As I stitched together sentences from the works of writers as varied as F. Scott Fitzgerald and H.P. Lovecraft, John Cheever and Kelly Link, something about the common gambits and rhythms, across nearly two centuries, sent a chill through me. The following text has been constructed entirely from sentences found in "American Fantastic Tales." Each is numbered and identified at the very end.</i>

    Seven Springs Mountain Resort will showcase the opening of the one and only STREETS terrain park on January 19.&nbsp; It is an urban design terrain park, the only one in the world.&nbsp; As early as this weekend, there was buzz around the state capital that such a unique feature terrain park would be built in Pennsylvania.&nbsp; The resort has brought in a host of famous snowboard riders such as Pat Moore ( rated one of the top 10 by Snowboarder Magazine), Nic Sauve ( according to the resort release was part of the brain trust for the creation of the STREETS), Austen Sweeten, Stevie Bell, Niko Cioffi, and Cam Pierce.&nbsp; They will all be riding at this spectacular event at Seven Springs.&nbsp; This terrain park has gained world press attention, according to some sources as far as Tel Aviv , Israel, and Oslo, Norway.

    The cold weather with snow and ideal snowmaking conditions made MLK weekend a wonderful time for snowsports fans.&nbsp; Central New York Greek Peak Mountain Resort ( Picture shown in this story) had all lifts operating and the majority of the trails open.&nbsp; Monarch Mountain in Colorado has 81% of their terrain open at press time, when I checked their site.&nbsp; Both Seven Springs Mountain Resort and Hidden Valley Resort of Pennsylvania, as well as Wisp Resort of Maryland and Timberline Resort of West Virginia were making great quality snow out of their snowmaking systems at press time.&nbsp; Timberline has a Vermont style mountain in trail design in West Virginia.
