After much criticism of the iPhone 4, Steve Jobs urged users to buy an Apple bumper for the phone or avoid holding the phone with your left hand. Others facing reception issues suggested a more economical way to solve the reception issues by putting a piece of tape over the left bottom side of the phone. Put a piece of tape over our state of the art phones? Not happening. And many did not want to buy the $29 bumper case carried exclusively through Apple.
22 days after the release of the phone, Steve Jobs publicly announced on stage that Apple would be starting the new iPhone 4 case program. They even created an app to sign up for the program. Yes, there is an app for that. The app is up and running as of this morning. All you have to do is download the app and choose the bumper or a case through a third party. If you've already bought a bumper to solve your reception issues, Apple will refund the cost. In fact, one of my colleagues already received his refund notification. In order to take advantage of the offer you must have bought your iPhone 4 before today.
