The Southeast Faces a Worst-Case Scenario
The evacuation warnings were as direct as they come. “This storm will kill you,” Florida Gov. Rick Scott said. “Time is running out.” Hurricane Matthew’s dangerous winds, rain and storm surge are threatening a large swath of the southeastern U.S. coast. They already left a trail of devastation in the Caribbean, especially in Haiti, where hundreds have died.
