19. The Nature of Things: Two films explore fundamental questions

A brutal attack in the dead of night—the recurring nightmare of Henry (Rick Gomez), a successful novelist with a loving wife (Vinessa Shaw). After a farewell party thrown by his publisher (Bryan Cranston), Henry goes into isolation at his remote second home to try to turn his anxieties into fiction. Then a seemingly chance meeting with a mysterious drifter (Frank John Hughes) at a roadside restaurant offers a revelation that, if trusted, might be life-altering. But is the man who he claims to be?

  21. Our Picks: 3 great "open air" art exhibits showing this week

En plein air literally translates to "in the open air," referring to painters who practice their craft in the great outdoors instead of in the controlled-environment of a studio. There are a few exhibits in Fairfield County galleries right now that feature such works, and with the mercury rising as of laste, we might as well do as much as we can en plein air for a while.

  23. More Good Vibes at Seaside Park

We already knew that Gathering of the Vibes was going to feature ex-Grateful Dead members. But now the official lineup has been announced and the exact (re)incarnations are no longer a mystery. There's no Furthur or Rhythm Devils as there had been the past two years. This time we're getting each ex-Dead member with his own respective project: Phil Lesh and Friends (for the first time since 2008), Bob Weir and Bruce Hornsby with Branford Marsalis (that should be interesting), Mickey Hart Band (who are also playing the Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, April 13) and 7 Walkers (featuring the other drummer, Bill Kreutzmann). Of course, there will probably be some cross pollination depending on how schedules align.
