Hawaii: Wooden works of art to be showcased at Honolulu museum

Intricate works of art made from native Hawaiian wood will be showcased in an upcoming exhibition in Honolulu. Hawaii's Woodshow will run Aug. 31-Sept. 14 at the Honolulu Museum of Art School. Each fall, the exhibit features 80 or more heirloom-quality pieces, from bowls to sculptures to tables. All must be crafted from Hawaiian-grown woods, such as kamani, koa, macadamia nut, mango and Norfolk pine. The show’s sponsor, the Hawaii Forest Industry Assn., prohibits the use of rare or endangered species.
