23. David Warren Sanner, 64, of Markleton

David Warren Sanner, 64, of Markleton, passed peacefully in the comfort of his home on Jan. 11, 2013. Born March 29, 1948, David was preceded in death by his parents Earl W. and Lily B. Sanner and his sister Thelma Gross. He was the beloved husband of Holly Jill Patterson. David was a member of the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in Rockwood where he was baptized. He retired from a career as a conductor on the CSX Railroad after 39 1/2 years. He was an active member of the Kingwood IOOF Lodge 1010 and the Scullton Rod and Gun Club. He was an active member of the Somerset County Beef Producers' organization. David had a broad smile and a wonderful sense of humor that he shared with those around him. He was an avid hunter and had a passion for fishing, even ice fishing. He had horses all of his life and enjoyed trail riding and hunting in Colorado with his own horses. He was an excellent cattleman and a dedicated farmer. David was a man you could count on and a dedicated steward of the land. David absolutely loved working outdoors. He worked from "CAN SEE to CAN'T SEE" and beyond. He was creative and courageous; confident and intelligent. David always made the work lighter with his "short breaks" and "short stories." He loved history, especially the Civil War; playing guitars with his family; farming with RED tractors; and lending a hand wherever he could. The warmth of a good campfire and cookouts with his family with home made pie for dessert always put a smile on his face. David will be deeply missed by his loving wife Holly, to whom he was husband, partner and comforter. He also has two surviving sisters, Shirley King of Rockwood and Rachel Townson of Maryland; brothers-in-law; children; step-children; grandchildren; nieces; nephews and cousins. To all those who loved and respected him, be assured David is with his God and Savior. There will be a memorial service for David at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church at 237 Whipkey Dam Road, Rockwood, Pastor Denton Lester officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's memory can be sent to Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church at 237 Whipkey Dam Road, Rockwood, PA 15557; In Touch Hospice at P.O. Box 1172, Somerset, PA 15501; or the Confluence Creative Arts Center, Confluence, PA 15424. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, Somerset. Online condolences may be sent to www.millerfuneralhomeandcrematory.com.
