  9. Pop Up Shopping Guide

Hate the crowded malls during the holiday season? Well If traditional Black Friday shopping is not your thing, pop shopping might be. It's easy if you know where to find the stores that are "popping" up all over Manhattan and Brooklyn. Savvy holiday shoppers are hot on the trend, but finding these shops isn't always easy. Pop up shops are temporary and literally pop up with little notice. Shoppers usually learn of their existence by word of mouth or via various shopping websites and email lists. This holiday season, more retailers than ever are thinking outside the brick-and-mortar box. Twenty-five Borders stores will pop up for the holidays. Toys "R" Us will open up 600 express stores. Even Hello Kitty is in a pop up state of mind. She'll swing by the Big Apple in a candy-colored bus on December 9th and 10th.This season, Brooklyn Flea moves indoors from December 15th-23rd for Gifted: A Holiday Market. Shoppers will find giftable goodies designed by nearly 100 of the borough's finest artists. PIX 11 is helping take the guess work out of Pop up shopping. Check out our guide and pop up map to help you get started.

  13. Brooklyn Dad Demands Jail Time for Accused Molester

The Brooklyn District Attorney has denied a claim by a Williamsburg father that prosecutors offered an accused molester probation--no jail time--if he pleaded guilty. The father was talking about 27 year old Meir Descalowitz--who lives in an Orthodox Jewish enclave in Williamsburg--and now stands accused of repeatedly molesting the man's son, starting when the victim was 12 years old. We are withholding the family's last name, because the boy is still a minor. His father says the teen suffers from mild retardation.
