The parent company of Fort Lauderdale-based Silversea Cruises has acquired Ecuadorian tourism operator Canadros S.A. and its expedition ship, Galapagos Explorer II, Silversea Group announced Monday.
Financial terms of the deal werent disclosed.
Others ships in Silversea’s fleet include the Silver Spirit, Silver Cloud and Silver Whisper, which all sailed on itineraries from Port Everglades earlier this year.
For now, Canadros will continue to operate the expedition ship, which will sail on its planned scheduled of cruises. Canadros will also oversee ship reservations, sales and marketing.
The 4,077-ton ship offers the stylish elegance of a mega-yacht, attentive onboard service and an enriching naturalist education program, Silversea Group said.
It has 50 ocean-view spacious suites, including 24 with private balconies, and other amenities include a restaurant, piano bar, library, Internet station and a marine observation deck.
Monaco-headquartered Silversea Group said the acquisiiton will enable it to expand its Silversea Expedition brand to offer year-round luxury expeditions in the Galapagos archipelago.
The company's existing expedition ship, the Silver Explorer is regulary deployed to various Polar Regions.
