DOUBLE HOMICIDE
Police probe murders of two males in Opelika
OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) -- A double homicide in Opelika is under
investigation today.
According to Lee County Coroner Bill Harris, at approximately
8:30 last night Opelika police responded to a 9-1-1 call to a
possible shooting in Lakeshore Trailer Park.
Harris said officers and paramedics found two males suffering
from gunshot wounds. He identified the victims as 33-year-old
Marrell Holland and 19-year-old Matthew Thomas, both of Opelika.
The two were taken to East Alabama Medical Center where they died a
short time later.
No arrests were made and Harris said police are treating both
deaths as homicides.
The murders are Opelika's fourth and fifth of the year.
