With flu and strep throat spreading this time of year, it's important to children to protect themselves as much as they can while they're at school or in day care.
In this week's Early Years segment, pediatrician Doctor John Moore suggests the kids keep the basics in mind. He recommends kids wash their hands properly, or at least use a hand sanitizer. Also, he says it is important for children to get enough sleep, and stay up to date on their vaccines. They should also eat well.
As far as vitamins and other supplements, Dr. Moore says those are helpful, too. He says there is some evidence that shows people who have low amounts of Vitamin D in their bodies have a tougher time fighting off illnesses.
