Description : Join the fight against pediatric brain tumors at the 10th Annual Run for Gus 5K Run / 1 Mile Walk / 400m Kids Race benefiting Children's Memorial Hospital, which is becoming Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and opens downtown on June 9, 2012. The Run for Gus will start and finish at Diversey Harbor in Lincoln Park and will take participants along Chicago's famous lakefront path.
Registration is $35 (children 12 and under are $10 for 5k; free for Kids Race). Day of event onsite registration is $40. Top male and female winners will receive prizes, as will top fundraisers and raffle winners. Prizes include round-trip airfare and a week-long stay at a Travel Advantage Network property, as well as airfare and hotel stays at 4 Seasons properties. All participants will receive an exclusive Run for Gus performance running shirt. The Deloitte after-party will be held across the street from the race site at the Peggy Notebaert Museum. Attendees will enjoy free food, beer and wine.
The CH Robinson 400m Kids Race will begin at 6:15pm. Families can enjoy entertainment before (5:30pm 6pm) and after (6:30pm 7:30pm), including magicians, face painting and music from Mr. Singer and Kerry Appleberry.
The 5K course is USATF certified (IL-11010-JW) and professionally timed. All 5K participants will receive a bib with a timing chip on race day. Time clocks will also be displayed at miles one, two and at the finish. The 1 Mile Walk will not be timed.
