SLVHCS Clinics Closed in Response to Hurricane Gustav

 

NEW ORLEANS, LA (September 2, 2008) - Due to Hurricane Gustav, all Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System clinics - except the Baton Rouge Clinic - are currently closed to ensure the safety of patients and staff.   

 

All New Orleans administrative and clinical sites, and the Houma Clinic, Slidell Clinic, St. John Clinic, Hammond Clinic and Mandeville Dental Clinic are currently closed. The earliest date that these clinics are expected to re-open is Monday, September 8.

 

The Baton Rouge clinic was opened for Urgent Care medical needs today and will resume most functions tomorrow, Wednesday, September 3.  The Baton Rouge clinic will see patients for scheduled appointments, provide basic primary care, mental health services, pharmacy services and continue to see Urgent Care walk-in patients.

 

Veteran patients should call 911 and immediately go to the nearest emergency room in case of emergency. Patients can access information through a toll-free patient information number 1-800-507-4571, 7 A.M. - 7 P.M., or on the Internet at http://www.neworleans.va.gov/.

 

All VA employees are required to immediately check in with their status, location, and contact information by calling 1-866-233-0152. Operators are currently available 24 hours per day to speak with employees.
