NEW ORLEANS—The Hornets have added two free agents to their roster, including the son of former Yankee slugger Darryl Strawberry.
D.J. Strawberry, 6-5, was a second round pick of Phoenix in 2007. That season he played in 33 games before being sent down to the D-League. He played two years in Italy, and was a member of the LA Lakers summer league team in 2010. Strawberry played his college basketball at Maryland.
The club also announced the signing of 6-11 center Darryl Watkins. Watkins was an undrafted free agent in 2007. He appeared in 9 games with Sacramento in the 2007-2008 season. He also played in the Development league and in China. Watkins played his college hoops at Syracuse.
