Jarrett Jack hit three free throws with 8.1 to play to cap an 8-0 run as New Orleans beat Dallas 93-92 Wednesday night at New Orleans Arena.
The Hornets won for the first time since Paul suffered a mild concussion Sunday night at Cleveland.
Jack and Marco Belinelli led the Hornets with 21 points each.
The Hornets were down 92-85 with 1:13 to play.
Belinelli hit a three pointer, Emeka Okafor grabbed an offensive rebound and scored. Then with 17 seconds to play, former Hornet Tyson Chandler missed two free throws.
With just over 8 seconds to play in the game, Dallas guard Jason Kidd fouled Jack as he attempted a three pointer. Jack made all three free throws to give the Hornets the lead.
Dirk Nowitzki missed a jump shot to end the game.
The Hornets 38-29, host Sacramento Saturday night.
