The answers are many.
Sure, they miss Sean Payton. He's the leader of the organization; a guy who would hold people accountable.
Yes, all of the off season stuff has taken its toll, but here's the biggest problem: the Saints have declined dramatically on the offensive and defensive lines.
Up front, the Saints are getting whipped. Anytime you allow 273 yards on the ground at home , you are bad. No way of getting around that.
And the Saints offensive line, the best in the league three years ago, is a shell of its former self.
Zach Strief fell on his sword Sunday -- and that's commendable -- but I would ask Pete Carmichael this: why would Zach Strief, a big burly tackle, be left without help against a speed rusher?
The Saints have all kinds of issues and the issues they have probably aren't fixable in one season.
On the defensive front, I would play Akiem Hicks a lot. Hicks has talent and he brings a nastiness to the field that the Saints desperately need.
And on offense I would give the ball to Pierre Thomas. Thomas ran the ball six times against the Chiefs.
Football isn't flying the space shuttle. If you can't kick the other guy's tail up front, you don't win. And the Saints haven't.
