Bernie's Book Bank was created in memory of Dr. Bernard P. Floriani. Dr. Floriani was passionate about education and literacy, especially for children. Wanting to honor his memory and support his passion, his children started the organization with a mission to transform the socio-economic status of low income families in one generation through early childhood literacy alone! Bernie?s Book Bank continuously collects new and gently used children?s books through events, neighborhood drop-off spots, schools, libraries and direct donations. Once collected and sorted by level, Bernie's Book Bank representatives deliver an interactive presentation about the importance of reading and books, and hand-deliver bags of books to each child. Presentations and distribution are coordinated through not-for-profit organizations, school districts and other organizations that work with children in need and recognize the value and importance of children owning books.
