Chicago Gay Pride Parade
Sunday, June 27 Start time is noon, stepping off from Halsted & Belmont
The Chicago Gay Hockey Association (CGHA) is Chicago’s Official gay hockey organization and was established in July of 2002 by Chuck Jacobson, who was inspired after attending a tournament hosted by the NYCGHA. The CGHA is a registered 501c-3 organization.
Our mission is to provide a non-discriminatory environment within the hockey community. We encourage all people with a passion for ice hockey – novice or pro, male or female, straight or gay – to contact us and learn to skate, play on our team, volunteer for social events, come to the games, and join our organization.
For the first season, the team was named SPIN and played in the Vernon Hills Glacier Ice Arena Men’s league. After that, the newly named Blackwolves played in the Rolling Meadows Park District Adult Men’s League, Level 5.
Currently, the Blackwolves play in the North Shore Adult Hockey League in Northbrook, Illinois.
Over the five-year history, the Blackwolves have had some notable successes:
- Rolling Meadows H2-B (Level 5) League Championship, Winter 2004/05
- Rolling Meadows H2-A League Championship, Winter 2005/06
- 2005 Coors Cup, hosted by the L.A. Blades over Labor Day, September 2005. $1000 in prize money was donated to the Hurricane Relief Fund and VitalBridges.
