Dr. Jackson’s Summer Skin Tips:

Head/Hair:
Most people associate dandruff with winter dry skin, but many people get oily flakes and dandruff in the summer. Look for moisturizing and dandruff-specific shampoos
If you're swimming in a pool, coat your hair lightly with conditioner before you put on your cap. This will help to protect it against the drying chlorine
Wear wide brim hats. Hold up to sun – if you can see through it isn’t blocking sun
Wear dry-fit hats, not visors when outside for long periods of time
Don’t forget your scalp!
Recommended products: Sebamed, Promius Pharma’s Promiseb Plus Scalp Wash

Face:
Adjust routine to lighter products. Look for products that are ‘pump and pour’ vs. ‘scoop’
Back off on sun sensitizing anti-aging products
Put sunscreen on below the eyes to avoid sweat dripping in eyes during outdoor activities
Recommended products:  Aveeno Positively Radiant Moisturizer, Sebamed Liquid Face & Body Wash

Body:
Sunburns happen. Many people forget to apply sunblock on the back of neck, tops of feet and scalp. To treat sunburns use: aloe, refrigerated moisturizer or a cool compress. Seek medical attention if you get significant blisters, fever and/or a chill.
To prevent sunburns, be sure to use a broad spectrum SPF (UVA/UVB) of at least SPF30. New FDA labeling requirements now require all sunblock to be labeled UVA/UVB and not waterproof and sweatproof, but water resistant, sweat resistant
Reapply. Use enough – a shot glass of lotion for your body
Look for SPF clothing – Cute and functional
Recommended products: Color Science Brush, Any spray UVA/UVB sunblock

Feet:
Treat your crusty heel with CeraVe New Sal Acid Renewing Lotion, this helps exfoliate heel.
Blisters and irritation occur from cute summer shoes worn without socks and stockings. Treat with products like Gold Bond Friction Defense.
Tops of the feet often get sunburned because many people forget to apply sunscreen
Marathon training: Don’t pop blisters, Wear shoes with enough room for toes to prevent ‘purple toes’
Recommended products: Gold Bond Friction Defense, Any spray UVA/UVB Sunblock, Band-Aid Advanced Healing
