Joe Adkins Pumpkin Display
Wheaton resident grows and carves giant pumpkins, displaying them in his yard for all to see. (October 15, 2012)
On tonight's WGN News at Five, we went to watch Wheaton resident Joe Adkins surface carve an 883 pound pumpkin he grew in his side yard. Joe caught giant pumpkin fever years ago when he saw an artist carving one at Six Flags Great America's Fright Fest.
Over the years, his pumpkins have gotten bigger and bigger. He told us how he grows them, where the inspiration to carve them comes from, and how others can do the same. The story will air at 5pm and will be posted here after the news.
You can find Joe's home at 1522 Childs Street in Wheaton. The pumpkins are displayed out front for all to see.
And check out my photos of all of the Adkins pumpkins HERE!
