CROWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. (WPIX) -- A Utica Avenue bodega in Crown Heights was the scene of a deadly robbery Wednesday night that left the owner and his son dead of gunshot wounds.
Police say 50-year-old Mohammed Monsoor Abuzaid and his 18-year-old son Abdul Kareen Monsoor Abuzaid battled with the killers after they were led to the basement of the store.
The father was shot in the head and died at the scene. His son was shot in the chest and died later at the hospital, according to authorities.
Relatives of the victims were left Thursday with many unanswered questions.
"What can I say, it's people killing people just for money" Abdul Abuzaid, the brother and uncle of the victims told PIX News. "I don't understand."
The two armed male robbers reportedly emptied the register after the shootings and fled. Police say a third victim, a male employee, was injured when he was pistol-whipped during the struggle with the suspects.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance cameras, hoping to get descriptions of the two suspects. Anyone with information is urged to call police.
