Many touted president-elect Barack Obama's presidential campaign as the first to truly leverage the far reach of the internet and its appeal to America's youth. Obama's director of speechwriting Jon Favreau may have reached a bit too far recently when a potentially embarrassing photo surfaced on Facebook.
The 27-year-old prodigal speechwriter is at a rare loss for words after the Washington Post revealed a photo of him 'groping' a cardboard cutout of incoming Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton. Another man in the photo offers up the New York senatory a sip of his beer.
The photo, which appears to be taken at a private party, was posted on Facebook for only a short period of time. It was reportedly taken down about 2 hours after it was posted, along with all other photos of Favreau.
The Post quotes a transition official as saying that Favreau has since reached out to Senator Clinton to offer an apology. The Clinton camp's response was coy, with senior adviser Philippe Reines issueing the following statement in an email to the Post: "Senator Clinton is pleased to learn of Jon's obvious interest in the State Department, and is currently reviewing his application."
